I Want To Be the One

I wanna be the one to rub your belly

I wanna be the one to soothe your soul

I wanna be the one you fall asleep on

I wanna be the pillow that you hold

I wanna be the hero in your daydream

I wanna be the twinkle in your eye

I wanna be the object of your passion as your fantasies arise

I wanna be the one, I wanna be the one

I wanna be the one you choose to love

I wanna be the one, I wanna be the one

I wanna be the one you choose to love

I wanna be the photo on your mirror

I wanna be the painting on your wall

I wanna be the statue that you carve out

As our love affair evolves

I wanna be the one to pose the picture

Of you and me when we are having fun

I know that I could do it if you’d let me, Baby, let me be the one

I wanna be the one, I wanna be the one

I wanna be the one you choose to love

I wanna be the one, I wanna be the one

I wanna be the one you choose to love

Because no one will ever love you like I do

Oo-oo-oo, because no one will ever love you like I do

I wanna be the one to share your secret

The one you bury very deep inside

I wanna be the one you trust to trust you

When you bare that ugly side

I wanna be the one you love forever

I wanna be your confidant and friend

I wanna be the one and only one for you, forever without end

I wanna be the one, I wanna be the one

I wanna be the one you choose to love

I wanna be the one, I wanna be the one

I wanna be the one you choose

Because no one will love me like you do

Oo-o-oo, because no one will ever love me like you

NOTES ON THIS SONG
I like the rock rhythm of this song. I like the “I Wanna” repetition. I like the imagery. I did a rewrite, after submitting the song to a couple of critique sessions with other songwriters, but I dumped it and came back to the original. I usually listen to critiques and follow the advice my counterparts offer. Not this time.
