Patty, Patty

Patty, Patty we got drunk last night

And touched each other with lusty eyes

Now every promise that we broke outright

Is gonna haunt me for the rest of my life

Patty, Patty, Patty, Patty

I think you know what I am saying

Patty, Patty, Patty, Patty

We’d better stop this patty-cakes we’re playing

How’d you end up with a man like him

You had to know how it was bound to end

But Patty, Patty you can count on me

Just let’s not touch so much, that part is starting to scare me

Patty, Patty, Patty, Patty

I think you know what I am saying

Patty, Patty, Patty, Patty

We’d better stop this patty-cakes we’re playing

Before it gets out of control

Before these feelings take hold

Patty-cakes, patty-cakes

We’d better stop this little game we’re playing (Patty-cakes, patty-cakes, baker man)

Patty-cakes, patty-cakes (Bake me a cake as fast as you can)

We’d better stop this children’s game we’re playing

Before it gets out of control

Patty, Patty don’t go pouting now, you made a promise to him

Let’s not be breaking that vow

I’m sure heaven has a hand in things

And I would hate for us to pay for something you don’t really mean

Patty, Patty, Patty, Patty

I think you know what I am saying

Patty, Patty, oh, Patty

We’d better stop this patty-cakes we’re playing

Before it gets out of control

Before we lose our immortal souls

OH, oh, oh-oh

Patty, Patty, oh, Patty

Oh, Patty, no, Patty, oh, Patty, no, Patty, no

Patty, oh, Patty, no, Patty, no

Patty, no, oh, Patty, oh, no

Patty, no, Patty, no

Patty, Patty, Patty

Oh, Patty, Patty

Oh, no, Patty, no

Patty, oh, oh, oh

Oh, Patty, oh, Patty, oh Patty

It’s out of control

Patty, no, oh, Patty

Oh, no, oh, no, oh, no

Patty, no, Patty, no

NOTES ON THIS SONG
Kids love this song. I’m not sure why. I guess the juxtaposition of a nursery rhyme with getting drunk, with lust, with rock ‘n’ roll just lends a naughtiness that kids are attracted to in their silly sort of way. The truth is, that was my goal when I wrote the song. Not  to entertain kids, but to touch that innocent chord that lies buried in the child in all of us. Nancy Dunn does the sexy background vocals.
