The Fish and the Bird

How much do I love you, you asked me one time

But I didn’t have an answer, no I didn’t have rhyme

So I went off to ponder and to conjure this line

Like a fish loves the water

Like a bird loves to fly

I love you, I love you, I love you

How much do I need you, you wanted me to say

And you wanted me to say it in some romantic way

So I grabbed my guitar and worked hard till I played

Like a fish needs the water

Like a bird needs to fly

I need you, I need you, I need you

Like a fish needs the water

Like a bird needs to fly

I need you, I need you

How long will I love you, you wanted to hear

And you wanted my answer to be perfectly clear

To be perfectly honest, it’ll be forever my dear

Long as fishes need water

Long as birds love to fly

I’ll love you, I’ll love you, I’ll love you

Now the fish and the bird have both gotten the word

But the one I hope heard me is you

I love you, I love you

Now the fish and the bird have both gotten the word

But the girl I hope heard me is you

I love you, I love you

NOTES ON THIS SONG
There are several exercise songs among these recordings. This is one of those. It’s a simple little song, but the message, at least in my imagination, is rather profound. I wish some woman would sing this to me!
