Every Last Drop

Like a drop of rain that fell down a drain and got caught up in a flood

I got sucked into an affair with you, now I’m drowning in your love

You got every last drop, you got every last drop

You got every last drop of my love

Now there’s no more left, I’m a soul adrift

You got every last drop of my love

You got every, every last drop

I’ve been dashed on rocks, I’ve been splashed on trees, I’ve been hurled down a waterfall

You swept away my love like a raging flood, now I’ve got no love left at all

You got every last drop, you got every last drop

You got every last drop of my love

Now there’s no more left, I’m a soul adrift

You got every last drop of my love

You got every, every last drop

You got every last drop to the heart of me

Every ounce of blood, every breath I breathe

You got every, every last drop

You got every, every last drop

Now I’m floating free on an endless sea and I know I will never go back

But for drowning in love most men never dream of, well, I will thank you for that

But you got every last drop, you got every last drop

You got every last drop of my love

Now there’s no more left, I’m a soul adrift

You got every last drop of my love

You got every last drop, you got every last drop

You got every last drop of my love

Now there’s no more left, I’m a soul adrift

I’m a drop in the ocean of love

And I dare not shed a tear

NOTES ON THIS SONG
I wrote this song hoping one day to convince Waylon Jennings to record it. Alas, that ain’t gonna happen. Waylon’s voice is the one I hear every time I listen to this recording: deep, full of bass and pathos. Suggestions?
