Make the Change

I’ve been seeing changes brewing in your eyes

Changes you don’t seem to want to recognize

But nature waits for no one

When your time has come

You will make the break, you will take the plunge

Go ahead and do it, you can make the change

Go ahead and do it, you can make the change

Every woman suffers it in her own time

How to leave her youthful innocence behind

Do you do it early? Do you do it late?

Do you make it happen or wait for fate?

Go ahead and do it, you can make the change

Go ahead and do it, you can make the change

Don’t be scared, don’t be tame

Go ahead and do it you can make the change

Go ahead and do it you can make the change

I can see it’s hurting what you’re going through

Flirting with the end of something dear to you

But change is as important as the air that we breathe

As the water we drink, as the blood that we bleed

Go ahead and do it, you can make the change

Go ahead and do it, you can make the change

Don’t be scared, don’t be tame

Go ahead and do it you can make the change

Go ahead and do it you can break the chain

I’ve been seeing changes brewing in your eyes

NOTES ON THIS SONG
This song started out as a sleazy young man’s way of convincing a girl to have sex with him. Over time, it has changed. I see the protagonist as an older person, male or female, advising a young woman on what she is going to face when it’s her time to make that decision about when and with whom she will first have sex. I know many (most) people won’t buy that explanation, but I like it and I’m sticking to it.
