Seawall Surfer Chick

Seawall Surfer Chick

She’s a big hit with all the surfer dicks

They’ve been studying her surfer tricks

They want to imitate her moves

They dig the way she dives into the tube

Seawall Surfer Chick

It’s a name she gave herself and she made it stick

She is no dilettante or maverick, no, no

She’s the genuine deal

That Seawall Surfer Chick’s for real

She’s an artist in the water

Sculpting waves in the Gulf of Mexico

In the warm-water Gulf of Mexico

Seawall Surfer Chick

Her knees are knobby and her arms are thick

But any other body would be counterfeit, not hers

She’s the genuine deal

That Seawall Surfer Chick’s for real

She’s an artist in the water

Sculpting waves in the Gulf of Mexico

In the warm-water Gulf of Mexico

I used to ride on those waves

Back in my own glory days

Back when she was still Daddy’s baby girl

Seawall Surfer Chick

I’m about as proud as any dad could get

So what, she’s hardly even started yet, I know, but

She’s the genuine deal

That Seawall Surfer Chick’s for real

She’s an artist in the water

Sculpting waves in the Gulf of Mexico

In the warm-water Gulf of Mexico

NOTES ON THIS SONG
A guy named Albert and a guy named Pat were the models for the dad in this song. They’re both well known in Galveston. Thanks to both for being such upstanding citizens and good fathers that they inspired a song. Inspiration is a hard thing to come by. I’m pretty sure one, if not all, of the muses pointed me to them.
