What You Say Nowadays

Mass communication ‘mongst a multitude of nations

Was a brilliant innovation in its way

But it also made it easy for the sleazy individual

To inch a little closer to his prey

So be wary of what you say

Be very wary of what you say

Once the mighty oceans with their perpetual motion

Posed a formidable challenge to his plan

But now Internet and satellites and supersonic-saver flights

Have got us eating right out of his hand

So be wary of what you say

Be very wary of what you say

What you say nowadays can be heard all around the world

Any little thing you say can be saved to a URL, but

Would you say it if you knew who all that URL would tell

Mass communication in its current iteration

Is a dangerous situation, indeed

So much information and so sweet the concentration

It’s no wonder where the evil go to feed

So be wary of what you say

Be very wary of what you say

NOTES ON THIS SONG
MySpace and other similar Web sites are fun places to socialize, I am sure, but just as there were thugs and ne’er-do-wells at the roller rinks of the fifties and the sit-ins of the sixties, the discos of the seventies, and the mosh pits of the eighties, etc., there are evil persons preying on youngsters at these sites. I’m not saying don’t have fun, I’m saying be careful what you say. Then have fun!
